Mouth Sores Symptoms Causes and Home Remedies

Mouth sores are the most common type of oral lesion. They are small, painful ulcers inside the mouth, and may occur on the tongue and cheeks, lips, and throat.

There are different types of mouth sores. The sores in mouth can occur anywhere in mouth including:

  • Bottom of the mouth
  • Inner cheeks
  • Gums
  • Lips
  • Tongue

 

What are the causes of mouth sores?
  • You may injure your mouth while brushing, dental work, braces or dentures or a sports accident. This can cause the dental problem of mouth sores.
  • Acidic and citrus foods may trigger mouth sores.
  • Food sensitivities or allergies can cause it too.
  • Lack of vitamins B12, zinc, acid or iron can cause mouth sores.
  • Allergy to certain bacteria in the mouth.
  • Hormones, emotional stress and smoking can be chief causes of mouth sores.
  • Gastrointestinal tract diseases can also cause mouth sores.

How to cure mouth sores?

To avoid pain and irritation and ensure a speedy recovery from mouth sores, here are the mouth sores cure:

  • Brush teeth gently and use a brush with soft bristles.
  • Use best Ayurvedic toothpaste Dabur Red paste
  • Use a toothpaste and mouthwash that does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate.
  • Stir aloe vera gel into a glass of water and swish it gently over the sore 3 times day to ease the pain and facilitate healing.
  • Gargle using warm water and saltwater rinses.
  • Do not indulge in spicy, acidic and citric foods as they can further aggravate the sore.
  • Get yourself checked up for any vitamin deficiency and take medicines as prescribed.
  • Apply some ice and rinse your mouth with ice cold water.

  • Use anti-bacterial mouthwashes, and oral medications to get rid of pain and discomfort.

 

Home remedies for Mouth Sores
  • Combine 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 2 ounces hydrogen peroxide. Mix and rinse your mouth with it four times daily.
  • Use coconut oil over the sores to get rid of them quickly.
  • Dip some clove oil in a cotton ball and apply it over the sore for relief.
  • Apply a thick dab of organic raw honey directly to the sore. Re-apply 2-3 times daily.
